Four boys from two different tennis programmes in Abuja — Life Camp Tennis Club and Mambilla Barracks Tennis Camp — have qualified for the semis of the 2023 Zenith Bank Next Generation Masters at the Ikoyi Club in Lagos.

Taking full advantage of the absence of Seun Ogunsakin and Mubarak Ganiyu, who are abroad playing ITF Junior circuit tournaments, Michael Akpan and Canice Abua from the Life Camp emerged winners and runners-up respectively from their different groups to qualify.

Michael will take on clubmate Canice Abua, while Yusuf who has displayed some fascinating skills in the tournament, will square up against teammate Yahaya Sani for a place in the final.

In the girls’ event, Khadijat Mohammed from Abuja recovered to seal a semi-final place with a 9-2 victory over Faith Adeusi from Ekiti State and will meet Group B winner Mary Udoffa from Kogi for a spot in the final.

The other semi-final will be between hard-hitting Etoro Bassey from the GUAF Academy in Akwa Ibom and Success Ogunjobi from Ekiti.

The semi-final matches are scheduled to start at 2 pm Friday (today) with the grand finale coming up on Saturday same time.
