The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mobihealth International, Dr Funmi Adewara, has been shortlisted for Africa’s Business Heroes 2023.
According to organisers, the award, which is a Jack Ma Foundation programme, was created to identify, support, and inspire the coming generation of African entrepreneurs who were making impact in their local communities, working to solve pressing problems and building a more sustainable and inclusive economy for the future.
The organiser said Africa’s Business Heroes selected 10 business heroes across the continent to compete for its of $1.5m in grant funding every year.
It stated, “Every year, 10 finalists will be selected to compete in the ABH grand finale pitch competition and participate in a TV Show that will be broadcast online and across the continent. The finalists compete for a share of $1.5m in grant money.”
According to the statement, Adewara’s achievement stood out in its 2023 cohort.
The organiser said, “Mobihealth is a multi-award winning integrated digital health company leveraging technology to improve access to healthcare by harnessing the global medical expert pool to bridge human capital shortages.
“Users have convenient 24/7 access to multi-lingual medical experts in Nigeria, Africa, and globally for consultations, prescriptions and medications, diagnostics, health education, and home health services.”
The organisers mentioned that over 27, 000 applications from African countries were received for its 2023 category.
It stated that Adewara was one of the four women who made the top 20 list and one of the three Nigerian startups on the list.
It said, among the individuals listed, Bryan Mezue from Lifestores Healthcare and Ikpeme Neto from Wellahealth Technologies stand out as notable Nigerians.
