The organisers of a reality gospel show, Gospel Icon Africa, have said the show will redefine gospel music in Africa.

Speaking during the week, the Managing Director of GIA, Esther Oladeji, stated that the show would create a platform for true worshippers to connect with God and bless humanity.

She said, “The vision is to enable up-and-coming artistes have a platform to shine their light, and to raise a new breed of gospel artistes. We are here today to announce that something great is about to happen.

“The aim of the show is to please God, and because we desire to do His will, He has led us through the pattern and structure He wants us to follow.”

Oladeji added that the show would be in phases, starting with registration and auditions. According to her, the successful contestants will be invited to the live show after uploading their audition videos.

The Chief Executive Director of GIA, Bamidele Martins, also noted that the show was a form of empowerment for both up-and-coming and established gospel singers. He said, “GIA is non-denominational. So long as you are a child of God, you are welcome. The selection from the top 10 will be based on the opinions of viewer.”

Martins stated that the winner of the show would go home with N10m, a car, a trip to Israel, and a two-year record deal. Other contestants would also get cash prizes and iPhones.
