The Founder of City of Knowledge Academy, Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State, Dr. Mosun Belo-Olusoga, has said a major way to get the best out of youths is to combine academic excellence with morality.

Belo-Olusoga, a former chairman of Access Bank Plc, spoke during a press briefing, ahead of the school’s 10th-anniversary at Ijebu Ode.

She said it was the combination that informed her decision to establish the multiple-award-winning school, which she claimed complimented her long passion for learning and imparting knowledge.

According to her, “Establishing the academy is not just an accomplishment, but the fulfilment of a passion and a dream. Right from my days in the banking sector, my passion for learning and imparting knowledge had been very strong. I often facilitated training programmes for my fellow bankers.”

She explained that her choice of situating the school in Ogun State, was to ensure a place that is safe and serene.

Belo-Olusoga said, “I want a combination of people being excellent but I also want to bring in our culture; typically a Nigerian child is forgetting their culture. I was very concerned about culture.

“I am also concerned about developing the character of an individual child. If you combine education, character and culture, I wanted a very confident child, So that informed the ethical pillars of the CKA.”

The Head of School, Ms Abiola Lamikanra, said the 10-year journey had been a bitter-sweet experience.
