Nigerian forward, Chidiera Ejuke, has joined Beligum Jupiler Pro League side, Royal Antwerp on a season-long loan deal from CSKA Moscow.

Antwerp announced the signing of the 25-year-old on their website on Sunday.

Ejuke uses an exemption from FIFA for players active in Russia to make the switch to the Belgium-based club.

Ejuke will be the second Nigerian on the payroll of the Belgian Pro League champions, joining former Gombe United striker, Alhassan Yusuf, at the club.

He spent last season on loan with German Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin but was hampered by injury as he could only manage 21 games, nine of which he started, and notched three assists.

With the Jupiler Pro League already underway, the 25-year-old will have to settle in quickly to stand a chance of breaking into the first team and get ample game time.

The league champions made a perfect start to their title defense on Sunday with a 1-0 win at home over Club Brugge at the Bosuil Stadion. Jesper Daland scored the only goal on the stroke of halftime.

Ejuke made his debut for the Super Eagles during a friendly match against Tunisia, which resulted in a 1-1 draw.

The left winger’s ability didn’t go unnoticed, as he later became part of the Super Eagles squad that competed in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations held in Cameroon.
