Nigeria international Cyriel Dessers is set to complete his move from Cremonese to Rangers with his medical set to take place before the team departs for their preseason in Germany.

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, on Friday, reported on Twitter that the Gers were on the verge of signing Dessers from Cremonese after both clubs have agreed on a final transfer fee for the Nigerian.

“Documents are now being drafted for the 28-year-old to move to Rangers,” according to Romano.

A Scottish publication,, Saturday wrote that Rangers manager Michael Beale wanted the player’s medical done before his squad travels to Germany later this week for their preseason.

“Dessers is now set to open talks, have a medical and seal his move to Scotland,” the website wrote.

“A move could be concluded relatively quickly now. With the squad set to jet out to Germany, Beale will be desperate for the Nigerian to be amongst the squad.”

Beale has been in the market for a new striker having already made five signings this summer and the signing of Dessers will be very exciting and encouraging for the Ibrox faithful.

Dessers scored seven goals in 29 appearances despite Cremonese’s relegation from Serie A last season and it’s hoped the 28-year-old will be able to bring that goalscoring form with him to Glasgow.

The Nigerian wasn’t prolific for the relegated Serie A outfits last season, but his reputation in Holland is good and he could adapt well to the Scottish Premiership.
