A singer, Olem Osim, aka Denko Baby, says he draws inspiration for his songs from his environment.

In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, the singer, who is Cross River State, said, “My debut Extended Play album titled, ‘Deep Play,’ was released in 2021. I draw inspiration from my environment, love and desire. I am also guided by self-acceptance and my passion for overcoming challenges, while celebrating small victories.

“My lyrics come from the beauty of life and the personal experiences I have encountered. One particular song from my body of work, ‘Peace of Mind,’ was written during a time of global turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Recalling how his music journey started, Denko Baby said, “During my high school years in Cross River State, I formed a music band called FMD Boys (Frances, Mathew, and Denis), and I was the lead singer.

“In 2011, I made the bold move to Lagos, which I considered the main music market. Unfazed by the competition, I firmly believe that the sky is vast enough for everyone to soar. I blend rhythm and blues, and afrobeats, while infusing my creative flair and uniqueness.”

The singer also stated that he admired artistes, such as Drake, 6lack, Tems, Davido, Olamide, Zlatan, Wizkid and Burna Boy.
