Oil Marketers have said at least, N9tn investment before the Compressed Natural Gas can be made available to consumers.

The National Controller Operations, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mike Osatuyi, while speaking with The PUNCH on Tuesday, said the N9tn was the initial fund needed for investment into setting up of conversion kits in each of its members filling station across the country.

The association currently has over 30, 000 members across the country.

He said, “Although the CNG is a cheaper alternative to petrol which is now very expensive, the cost of investing into conversion kits has been the problem. And before you can be able to provide such, each filling station would need anything between N10m to N30m depending on the size of what each person wants for the skid and tanks.

“CNG is much cheaper. We can convert the space where we put our kerosene tanks to that of CNG if we get the funding.”

He added, “Just last week, I converted my petrol gas generator to gas.”
